Salem to remain in judicial custody till Feb. 27

he special court for CBI cases on Thursday extended the judicial custody of mafia don Abu Salem till February 27 in the fake Passport case.

The CBI brought him from Mumbai's Arthur Road Jail on a PT warrant and produced him before the court in the fake passport case. The CBI framed charges against Abu Salem under sections 420 (cheating), 468 (forgery for the purpose of cheating), 471 (using as genuine a forged document which is known to be forged) and section 12 of the Indian Passport Act.

Abu Salem's counsel S Pradeep Kumar appealed to the court to retain his client in Hyderaabd till completion of the trial.

The court has posted the hearing to February 27. Later in the evening, the CBI officials sent him back to Mumbai by train.
